The Scoop

I am so happy to have a blog to complain to everyone I know about the severely rotten 2 days I have had. Yesterday I dropped Kennedy off at school and as usual, the principal had to hold her back while I ran for the car. Getting seriously tired of this already. Then I was supposed to have lunch with her. I forgot. Then I was late picking her up from school. Obviously she was mad. While I am driving to pick her up I get a call from Katie. I am supposed to be at her school that day for a conference with her school advisor & I had it written down for tomorrow. So she was mad at me. Then I get Mackenzie ready for soccer. We go racing out the door because I naturally have forgotten until just then that we are supposed to take the treat that day. We go get donuts that the people tried to charge me $12.00 for when they were supposed to be $5.99 a dozen. We pay for the donuts, rush to the soccer field and can't find her team. I call my mother in law to look at the schedule for me and figure out what's the deal. The deal is, we are an hour early. So we are at the soccer field for 2 hours. At 7:30pm I take Mackenzie to the drive in to get some dinner. On our way home, the gas light goes on so we have to make a detour for gas. Then, while I am getting the kids ready for bed, Drew calls. I am irritated because he did not answer the phone the 42 times I called to complain about my rotten day. So I refuse to talk to him. Today I am exceptionally glad that I did not answer the phone because he calls me at 8:30 this morning to let me know that our loan for our house was not approved. That's right folks. NOT APPROVED. So the bad dreams I have had lately of living in the dumpster behind McDonalds is not so far fetched after all. OH, by the way, the house we ended up attempting to buy is NOT the one I made an offer on that day Drew didn't answer his phone. We went back to the short-sale house because it was more affordable. But apparently not affordable enough. So now that I have solved the drought problem here in Utah after my 5 hours of bawling my head off this morning. But Drew just called and said that our realtor has a lender that will approve our loan. So Saturday morning we are meeting with them to see if we can get a house or have to go dumpster diving. That's all folks. That's the news here in Utah folks. Stay tuned for more, As The Smedley's Turn.

A House on the Horizon

Good news!!! I found a house today and tried to get Drew on the phone to discuss it with him. However, he didn't answer so I made an offer anyway! I think he was a little surprised when he called me back! It's an awesome house in an awesome area with a park within walking distance. I am so glad to have found a house I like. I have been having nightmares about living in a covered wagon behind the order boxes at McDonalds. Very disturbing. Hopefully we'll hear back soon! Wish us luck. (Oh, and Drew liked the look of it when he got to look it up on the internet!!!!)

Emergency Vacation

Drew and I took a quick emergency vacation to Park City to get me away from the girls before I pushed them off a cliff. Drew made a tactical error and he got us a hotel within walking distance of the outlet malls. So I got some awesome retail therapy too!!!

Drew is going to make me one of these things that we saw at a downtown market. This lady had made her cooler into a scooter. It's a cool idea.

School Fashions

The girls wanted Grandma Knivila to see some of their school fashions. So here you go Grandma (and everybody else!)

I had orders to take 7 pictures of this outfit so I took all 7 but only put one on here.
This is snow on top of Mt Timpanogos on Sept 2nd. Yikes!

In the leafy treetops.....

This is what Mackenzie does during Kennedy's soccer games. I have asked for directions to the nearest hospital just in case we have a broken bone! She definitely has no fear!

Look closely and you can see her in the tree!

Mackenzie's first day of Kindergarten

I am finally making the time to put little Kenzie's first day of school pics on here. Isn't she just adorable????? She absolutely loves school and always goes happily off to her classroom!

Homeless, Stranded & Soggy

Welcome to my pity party!!!! There's room for everyone! Well, we still don't have a house. Still waiting for news on the house we made an offer on. And for those of you who haven't heard, our van bit the dust. We decided it wasn't worth the $5,000 to fix it. So we are down to one vehicle. Which is fine for now since Drew is still in MICHIGAN. I have the car to drive the girls to and from school every day. It only takes me, on average, 3 hours every day of driving! And as for the soggy part of my title, the basement flooded on Labor Day and so we have had fans running 24/7 for the past few days to dry it out. Fortunately the bedrooms stayed dry, so we only lost access to the living room and the big tv. So basically, things here are hunky dory, okeydokey, fabuloso! I hope to post good news this week on the house business. Also still need to get Mackenzie's first day of school photos posted. They will be coming soon!
